Book Study: Search for the Beloved Community: The thinking of Martin Luther King Jr.

During the month of November and December, Redeemer's Adult Sunday School class was filled with a presentation by Pastor Al on the book Search for the Beloved Community: The thinking of Martin Luther King Jr. by Kenneth L. Smith and Ira G. Zepp Jr. Though the booked contained much more than could be presented in class, we did give six sessions to the material and found that people were engaged and very willing to speak up to add images and/or to ask questions. The material from the presentation slides has been provided in the links below. The files are in Adobe Acrobat format.

Lutheran Confessional Resources for the Study of Human Sexuality

Redeemer member, Walter Bouman, who passed away on 17 August, 2005, was professor emeritus in Systematic Theology at Trinity Lutheran Seminary. Dr. Bouman never ceased to wrestle with the issues of the day and how we are called to follow Jesus in the midst of all the concerns that whirl around us. In many of his lectures throughout the E.L.C.A. that have to do with how we approach the study of Human Sexuality, Dr Bouman brought his deep understanding of our Lutheran Confessions and with that some of the great insight in regard to the authority of scripture, the Law, the Gospel, and the life of the Church. Below are a series of presentations compiled by Pastor Al Debelak based on Dr. Bouman's work just prior to his passing.

Dr. Mark Powell, professor of New Testament studies at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, presented a series of lectures on how Lutherans interpret the Bible at Redeemer.
