The Reign of God as waiting. Comments to: adebelak@redeemerluth.com

The Reign of God as waiting seems like a devotion for the season of Advent. And yet, the Reign awaits our entry for it is at hand and we have been invited - even inspired - to live within its character of hopefulness and new life. This waiting is not for all of us to do enough in order to enter God's Reign. It is the waiting done by a parent who is running alongside a young child as the child is attempting the first ride on the bike without training wheel. Always present - always at hand, always reassuring - waiting to see how the child and bike will move through the next moment. The Reign of God as waiting already announces that everything is in place - we need only take part in the feast of its presence.

O God of New Life and All Hopefulness, we come ready to join in the life your offer. Encourage out response. Amen.
